Step 1. Installing Apache Sling

Install Jackrabbit from their website:

sudo apt-get install jackrabbit

Create a password for the Jackrabbit user:

sudo passwd jackrabbit

Create a password for the Sling’s user:

sudo passwd sling

Edit the user’s.bash_profile (you can do this in the terminal as well):

gedit ~/.bash_profile

Under the “End User Environment” section, add the following two lines:

PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/sbin/:/usr/local/sbin/:/sbin/:/bin:/usr/sbin/:/usr/bin
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/sbin/

Save the changes and exit gedit.

Execute the following command to have the changes in the user’s.bash_profile be applied:

sling.sudo -u jackrabbit
sling.sudo -u sling
