AutoCAD’s second release was released in 1985. The initial release included standard CAD drafting tools. Drafting tools also included the ability to create objects and layers, with editing features and unlimited undo. Revisions were stored in a separate set of buffers. The original name was ‘Architect’ or ‘ARW’ (Architecture and/or Rework Workbench) by 1986 and after its release, it was renamed to AutoCAD in 1987. The first public version was 1.0.

In 1990, AutoCAD 2D was introduced. The first version 2D was restricted to working with 2D drawings. However, with the release of AutoCAD 2D Plus, the first AutoCAD 3D software, in 1994, a true 3D program was introduced. With this change, the software also saw the introduction of 3D parametric drawing, 3D surface drawing, 3D area drawing, and 3D 2D mechanical drawing.

In 1995, the company that had bought the rights to AutoCAD from then Autodesk, Autodesk, Inc. was rebranded as Autodesk in order to improve public perception of the company.

In 2010, the release of AutoCAD Civil 3D, a 3D architectural design and construction software package, combined with AutoCAD Land Desktop, a software to create architectural plans and 3D models, was released.

We are studying the functional importance of cell adhesion molecules. Sialyl LewisX is an adhesion molecule which is expressed on a subset of carcinoma cell lines. Antibodies directed against this molecule block the binding of carcinoma cells to vascular endothelial cells in vitro. The receptors for this molecule are known to be the leucocyte cell surface associated carbohydrate receptors, i.e. CD 15. When antibodies directed against CD 15 are used in vitro, they block the binding of carcinoma cells to vascular endothelial cells. In the case of CD 15, the ganglioside is recognized by the antibody. Our purpose is to identify the carbohydrate moiety which is recognized by anti-CD 15. We are currently working on the structure of the carbohydrate and its linkage to the protein. We are also looking for the receptor for this adhesion molecule and for its unique site of expression on normal and transformed cells. In the case of the tumor associated carbohydrate, we hope to identify the ganglioside that is recognized by this adhesion molecule. In addition, we are developing methods to modify cell adhesion molecules. We have started to work on the sialic acid portion of this molecule. We are modifying the gangliosides and then studying the effect on cell adhesion. We are also working on sialic acid containing lipids which are on the cell surface and we hope to modify them. We are also looking at the role of these glycosylated molecules in embryonic development. We have found that a sialyl Lewis X expressing embryonic fibroblast causes malignant transformation of leukocytes.Q:
